Testing the new powerboard
We are taking care of all electronic components inside the robot.
One of our tasks is the development and realization of intelligent, reliable power supply.
We read out sensor data and provide an interface (API) to the team IT. The data our sensors collect is being used for navigation - once the calculations are done, team IT feeds the results back to us via the interface. The signals are then transformed into control signals to the main engines.
Most important to us are modularity and easy expandability to allow quick changes in the electronic infrastructure. This way, new sensors and actuators can be included to prepare the robot for new applications. During the last year, we switched from a self-designed, fully analogue, backbone to the industry standard CAN-Bus.
We will realize a hot-plug enabled power supply system, which allows for switching between batteries and stationary power supplies. This way, we will be much more flexible while testing and operation.
The implementation of new sensors and microcontrollers will allow us to collect more data and make the robot more suitable for a wide variety of tasks.
